There aint a whole helluvalot to write about but I'll try. Ok, I'm home now and this is going to be my first attempt to "Ramble..." while actually logged in to the internet. I figure this will save me a ton of time in terms of all the hoops I jumped through to save this crap. One of the things I neglected to mention in a "Ramble..." is that I signed up for some guitar lessons. I amaze myself in the fact that I have been playing the guitar for 30 years now and these are my first formal lessons. I signed up for "Lead Guitar I" at The Old Town School of Folk Music. It's been kinda fun and motivating to actually learn the terms of some of the stuff I've figured out on an intuitive level. I also get depressed with my 3 finger handicap/challenge. I figured it out after my third lesson on the train ride home. I was inexplainably depressed and I had to determine why. When I realized what it was I also realized that I will have to work a little bit harder if I want to get as good as I was back in 1980... Another bit of excitement for me is the upcoming "Corn Production" shows. They are in the middle of their passion follies about the life of Christ and Patrick, who is writing "The Last Dinner Party" asked if I would write some music for his show. I'll also get a part because he wants a live guitar player in the cast to do the songs. Even though Patrick has assured me that I have a part in the play I will be going to the auditions on Sunday. He cautioned me to make sure Robert knows I will be working with him and won't have time to be in "Jesus, The Wonder Years". (Robert's play) I spoke with Robert this afternoon and ask what I need for an audition. He told me to have some sort of monolog so I'll tell one of the stories I've written here in my "Rambles..." The hard part is going to be picking one. My top choices are: "The_Dunes_and_No_Helmet" (Short and Sweet) "The_10_year_old_speeding_ticket" (Emotional and Tragic ;-) Or maybe I'll use this one... Or maybe I'll just make something up. On the home front, Alison and I are planning a trip to Arizona with her son Jordan. Jordan has a week off from school at the end of March. I'd like to fly him here to Chicago for a day or two so we can show off our new apartment. (We'll be moving March 1 or a bit sooner...) So, we have lots of packing to do and lots of time to do it... Work at the Tribune has been going well. I'll be implementing a new server tomorrow. It will be a server that processes the display ads in the paper. I've been fighting with it (the server) since I started at the Trib. There were some tough problems to solve before we could turn off the old server and turn this new one on. So it is going to be very satisfying "if" it works tomorrow. Then it will be on to another project... Until next time... |
