Hi all. I’ve been threatening to write another "Ramble..." so here goes. A Saturday morning after an evening with friends to celebrate Maureen’s birthday. This weekend is one with a party every night. Last night..., tonight is closing night of "The Madonna In Spite of Herself" at the SweetCorn Playhouse and tomorrow is the Sam Ash holiday party... Alison has left for work, I will be going into work later and I have lot’s to write about. We found a new apartment. This past week we focused on finding a new place to live. Alison had Thursday and Friday off so I scheduled a day of apartment searching for Thursday. I took the day off from work and we looked at 7 different apartments. We decided on a 2+ BR in Wicker Park. The lease will start March 1, so we have plenty of time to get organized, packed and purged. There is a garage we will rent when we get a car. The place is a big one. The master bedroom has a wood burning fireplace. The kitchen is huge! There’s a deck and yard out back (buried in 2 + feet of snow now...) The +room has a built in loft bed and desk beneath it. (My computer room and Jordan’s bed when he visits) There are hardwood floors throughout. It’s within walking distance of lot’s of stuff (kinda / sorta like Uptown in Mpls...) The living room has two walls of built in book shelves with a bay window wall between them. It’s the second floor of a 2 flat and it has it’s own address (No apt #!): The address: 1534 North Leavitt Chicago, IL 60622 The holidaze were nice and quiet. Christmas Eve, Alison got home from work kinda late and we opened one gift each. Christmas day we opened the rest of our presents and went to see a movie. Alison worked the next day and I hung out at home. New Year’s Eve and New Year’s were pretty much a repeat of Christmas sans the movie. The (now) 12 year old speeding ticket saga continues... I spent an afternoon on hold / in the queue to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts last week. I’ve pretty much repressed the ordeal since. The bottom line is, They’ll take a personal check now and I just have to write it and put it in the mail... Anyway, I started by making a call to an 800 number that came with my "Green Release" which wasn’t available in my area. (411) ... to the wrong department (after waiting 20 minutes in the queue...) then being transferred to another queue for another 20+ minutes only to be told to hold for a moment and getting a dial tone in my ear after that moment. Now, all I had was the wrong number and another blackhole of a phone call ahead of me so I called 411 again and got another wrong department number. Eventually, I got the direct number and a human to talk to... Now I’m hesitant to mail my check and "Green Release" because the PO lost my money order to get the required paper work for my "Clearance Letter" I’m procrastinating because of all the CYA maneuvers I need to go through to get my IL Driver’s License... I’ll save that for my next installment of these "Rambles..." Until then... |
