My
problems with the phone company here in Chicago started
when I moved here. The credit check done when I applied
for my new apartment turned up a report stating Ameriwreck
had me in collections... Something I was unaware of until now.
I was never contacted by the collection agency. I'm sure their
stategy is to wait for the collecties to get screwed by a credit
check... It's working on me... I may just pay them the $130
to get it off my credit report.
Here is my dispute with Ameriwreck... It started back in August of 2000 when I received a disconnection notice for my old phone number with a bill for $130. I called them about it and told them I wasn't going to pay for phone service I didn't have. I left it at that after much discussion over the situation. They never disconnected the phone at my old address and the number rang through to the voice mail. There was no phone for that number! because the new tenants were using the line. I spoke with the collection agency and called the Illinois Commerce Commission. My struggle now is to get it removed from my credit report... That adventure will be coming as it happens... 2/3/2001 I placed an order to move my phone and my number is going to stay THE SAME! (aside... according to the person I spoke to, I have an excellent credit with Ameriwreck. The computer she used has no record of the collection... go figure) 02/13/2001 The battle with Ameriwreck continues This time, on the front of my new apartement. The credit collection thing has no new developments I've been stood up twice now! Saturday(02/09) and Monday (02/12), I was told a technician was going to be here and nobody showed. Both times I was informed a tech was coming when "I" called them to check on the status of the move of my phone. To top things off, they couldn't reschedule until February 20! 11 fucking days without a phone because they don't know what is going on. Nobody can tell me why they can't activate the line that is here or why a technician even has to come out. 02/20/2001 Today Ameriwreck came and straightened out the wiring for my phone. AND I received a letter from Ameriwreck's "Collections Specialty Center". Did they time it so I'd get the letter the same day I got my phone back? I highly doubt it but to quote the letter, "I have been unable to reach you by telephone." Gee... If their inter-office communication is this good it is no wonder it took them 3 tries and 11 days before I got phone service again... I'll be calling the "Executive Resolutions Specialist" tomorrow! and ask her why she didn't leave a message? It was the only way my phone # worked... Did she think I wouldn't return her phone call because she worked for Ameriwreck. I wouldn't blame her... 02/22/2001 I called Ameriwreck yesterday and was told they would take the blemish off my credit report and close out their case on my old phone number. I should get a letter in the mail in a couple of weeks... |
