| Exactly One Year Tomorrow |
On January 19, 2005 I met with the oncologist who told me that the lump in my left armpit and the mole that was removed from my back was Metastatic Melanoma. It was a very somber meeting. I could see the difficulty he had giving me his opinion that my life was going to be cut short. My denial of the severity of his diagnosis and later understanding of the statistical prognosis for living much more than another year, left me to answer that often rhetorical question of, "What would you do if you had a year to live?" It is an easy answer for me... I'm doing it. The big change has been adding the fight for my life to my "to do list" ... So far, it continues to take a chunk of time that forces me to get a bit more efficient with the rest of my time. Fighting cancer is a lot of waiting to give the drugs(poisons) time to do their thing. I am grateful for every day that I can be living my dream. Tomorrow is going to be a travel day to get to the next battle on Friday. I'll also get the report on the overall state of the war. In the meantime, I have a big sound engineering project to complete... |
