(Above) The bay at Arenal D'en Castell. We stayed in a villa on the extreme right of the picture.

(Left) You don't need orienteering skills for this - our resort can be found on the north tip of the island of Menorca.
You need Java to see this applet.
- Verdict: Fantastic. (Well, most holidays abroad are aren't they?)
We stayed in a beautiful little villa with swimming pool and mosquitos as standard,  located roughly 10 mins walking distance from the wonderful sweeping horse-shoe shaped beach (see photo below), and also within reach of the lively nightlife district that was located on the opposite (west) side of the resort.
The nightlife was great and the locals weren't too bad either - having made friends with 'Cisco', Mi Pizza soon became our regular and favourite eaterie in town (soon renamed patronymically by ourselves as Cisco's). We also travelled to the ancient capital of Mahon (which has the second deepest natural harbour in the world) on a sightseeing day, where we walked around a lot, commented on how quaint the buildings were, got fairly lost, and scrambled to the relative safety of our coach to get back to our villa.

- SunGuide: Hot ; Average temperature being 30+ degrees celcius in July.

- PriceGuide: Beer is roughly the same price as in the UK - ie 2.00 - although cigarettes in Spain are virtually tax free cos they smoke so much, vending in packs of 20 at roughly 1.70. Prices for eating out depend on where you go really, however, most families can eat well at a reasonable price 2.50+ for starter dishes / 5.00+ for main dishes / 2.50+ for desserts.
- Highlight(s) of the Holiday: Swimming back to shore from cove at sea (see "here") / eating a Pizza Toscana from Cisco's / beating Sally in restaurant-to-shore race / sliding of Pedlo slide / getting buried in sand / receiving rapturous applause following my karoeke versions of John Lennon's 'imagine' and Ben E King's 'stand by me' / staying out till four in the morning and walking home.
- Lowpoint(s) of the Holiday: Sally and Rachel's karoeke rendition of the Aerosmith classic 'don't want to miss a thing' / being pushed into the pool by Barry / watching Spanish soaps / losing at Boulderdash / Ellen's scream-mayday-and-use-lighter-as-flair method of rescue whilst pedloing at sea / Bobby's raucous, late-night singing / returning from beach to find my beloved lilo punctured and unquestionably put, unlike IRA weapons, beyond use / walking home from beach barefooted.
