Editor, Knoxville News-Sentinel:

While I disagree with the American Civil Liberties Union and Americans United for Separation of Church and State on school prayer, given that the Constitution doesn't give the government any authority to be involved in the schools, I'm in general agreement with regard to posting the Ten Commandments in government buildings such as courts.

While I appreciate the intent behind posting the Ten Commandments, I suspect the motives are flawed. There is a genuine concern that immorality is run amok. When has that never been the case?

This is an expression to return to better things. However, having faulty reasoning behind this move and perhaps even to the point of just making yourself look good, this attempt gives the original purpose behind the Ten Commandments (which were written on stone tablets and the original eventually destroyed) a bad rap.

My suggestion to these people: Live the Ten Commandments in your heart; don't gloat in self-glory.
