All Hallows Blast '99

Welcome to the BombSquads first ever Haunting. We have been known for our extreme cube decorating for birthdays and at Halloween every year, see cube creations. This year we were approached and asked if we would like to do a haunted house for a Halloween employee luncheon. We jumped at the chance to take our talents to a larger stage. The theme was a "Haunted Garrison", here is the story behind the theme. If the story didn't scare you away, you can take a walkthrough of the Haunted Garrison. After the tour, be sure to check out theGarrison construction photos.

The Story:

Part I.
A local organization has discovered an interesting fact about this companies campus. In 1631, a Spanish explorer, Luis de Moscoso de Alvarado, led a small group of men into this area and built a garrison in what is now the 'Tech Building' area. This garrison was used to train soldiers and to hold prisoners. The unit was comprised of 2 sergeants, 7 field officers, 3 builders, a cook, and El Verdugo de la Brigada de Bomba, the executioner.

Part II.
Four weeks after the garrison was in operation, they discovered that their food supply was spoiled. They had only enough rations for one person to stay behind while the rest went for supplies. The executioner volunterred to stay. The rations would last him three weeks, which should have been enough time for the squad to make the journey and return. But the hazardous journey killed 4 of their group and delayed the rest so they were unable to make it back to the garrison for 2 months. They expected to find their companion, El Verdugo, starved to death.

What they found instead was far, far, worse...

Part III.
It is rumored that the garrison the men returned to was like something out of a nightmare. They had left El Verdugo alone, but the grounds were littered with half-eaten corpses. Perhaps they had been unsuspecting travelers, or worse, had been unearthed from the nearby graveyard. We will never know for certain, because the squad was never heard from again. But those who now work in the buildings late at night, after most employees have gone home, say they have seen fleeting glimpses of a dark figure lurking in the corners of the building, and they have heard the sounds of someone eating noisily...

Now, iiX/AMS is about to close the buildings on the east campus at the end of 1999. The ghost of El Verdugo will be abandoned, as he once was while he was alive, so long ago. And he isn't happy about it.
