I focused primarily on the offense Tuesday, but have some defensive notes.
Hoover and Lee are holding down the DE starting spots thus far, but Hobson
and Svitek are pushing them. I like what I see from Marcus Hoover, a rarely
discussed player among Booties. The bigger questions come inside, where
Stanford has two starters to replace. Some combination of Leonard, Albrecht
and Freeman should take those two spots. Travis Pfeifer didn't play as much
Tuesday, though it will be interesting to see if he holds his role as tackle in the
nickel package this season. Willie Howard will be missed, but that interior trio
look like they've worked hard this winter and are all business this spring.
Keep your eye on Matt Leonard, who could be poised to seriously break out.
