a brief synopsis:
Eric didnt know how, but his best friend Marc was gone. His pal told him that he was leaving their desolated, polluted and emotionless area to be with the woman he loved--and would never be back.
Eric wandered through the house his friend had left him and made a most startling discovery. His friend Marc had traveled through time, leaving 2114 to live a hundred years in the past! He also uncovered detailed instructions on how to follow him, if thats what Eric wanted to do.
He built a traveling unit--like his friend did--and traveled back through time. He found Marc... and his wife Lily, too. However, somehow he made a miscalculation and arrived two years later than his friend did.
Shortly after his arrival, Marcs cousin Diana, who was actually his great-great-great aunt even though she didnt know it at the time, came for a visit. And although she was recovering from a recent broken engagement, she found Eric as intriguing as he did her.
She was humorous, witty, and intelligent, blended together with a beauty and an adventurous spirit that captivated Eric. These were qualities he had not previously beheld in a woman. They began to date, and were instantly bonded because of their mutual love for Marc and Lily.
Things went smoothly until Diana found out where Eric and Marc really were from. She, thinking that she was the butt of a tasteless but elaborate practical joke, became hurt and decided to go home. To stop her from leaving and to prove she was wrong about him, Eric invited her to travel back to his time. It would make their courtship unique, so he and Marc modified his travel unit to accommodate a return trip with Diana. It appealed to the adventurous side of her and she agreed to go with him.
This was no ordinary vacation, however. One of the first people Diana was to run into was Alex, Erics ex-girlfriend. Then Deke, a man Eric disliked for no apparent reason, appears quickly on the scene and does his best to interrogate Diana trying to discover where Marc--the inventor--was.
Deke is arrogant, pompous, chauvinistic and seemed to take great pleasure in ruffling Dianas feathers, especially when Eric was not around. And together with Alex, they manage to fill Diana and Erics entire vacation with one interruption after another.
Meanwhile, the search for Marc is on. And while love buds and blooms between Diana and Eric, war seems to be declared by the rejected Alex. She is determined to find out just who Diana really is.
Amid the complications caused by the other couples interference, Diana has something else to puzzle her. Eric has a side project going on that he seems to be busy with about Marc and hasnt let her in on it.
Then the worst thing imaginable happens: Diana disappears--and without warning! Eric is frantic when he is unable to find even a trace of her.
Finally she is found and they are reunited happily. Then the real reason for the desperate search for Marc is revealed...
Eric decides to take no more chances with Diana and they make their way back into the past--to Dianas time. There are the teary good-byes
The past is a welcome sight to them as is the joyous reunion with Marc and Lily. And after the explanations are over, then our story can reach its heartwarming conclusion.
