When a great kung fu master dies in mysterious circumstances,chen chen (bruce lee),his prize student.returns to shanghai for his mentor`s funeral, meeting some of his fellow students at his old ching-wu school, three members of a rival japanese school arrive and try to draw chen and his freinds into a fight, the chinese students show self control and refuse to fight despite the insults of the japanese.Eventually however chen cannot control his anger against the japanese so he arrives at their school and demonstates his superior chinese kung-fu skills by taking on the entire school single handedly. in retaliation for this humiliation.the japanese school launches an all-out attack on the ching-wu school the resulting bloodbath leads to chen`s discovery of the reason behind his mentor`s death.
When jim hoo,a freind of billy lo (bruce lee) dies for no apparent reason, billys suspicions are aroused. at the funeral a helicopter suddenly appears and snatches the coffin. billy grabs onto the helicopter`s landing gear as it pulls away, but loses his grip and plunges to his death, bobby lo. billy`s younger brother interrupts his martial arts training at a buddhist temple to set out on a quest to discover the reasons for the two deaths. bobby visits the last place jim hoo was reported seen the sinister "castle of death" billy discovers an underground drug manufacturing centre and must fight against odds to avenge his brother and leave the castle alive.
