Why we want to adopt
In the Bible, it tells us that adoption is something God allows on purpose and that it gives Him pleasure (Ephesians 1:4-6). Each one of us who believe in God's son, Jesus, is also adopted into God's family. God places such a high value on adoption, that we want to adopt in our own lives. We believe God has chosen us to be parents, and we believe that adoption is the way He has chosen for us to expand our family and have children that we can love for the rest of our lives. Joy grew up knowing many people who adopted, and many children that were adopted. Chris did not have quite the same experience, so he just began learning about adoption in the early years of our relationship. Many of our friends are adopted. We had planned, when we married, that we would have a biological child or two and then adopt a child to complete our family. However, God has other plans for us. We have struggled with infertility since we married, so if we ever do have biological children, it will come much later as a surprise. Right now, through what He has laid on our hearts, and the circumstances He's allowed us, we know that it is God's plan for us to adopt at this time in our lives. We are praying that just the right Birthmother chooses us, and that she will be confident of her choice to have us parent her child or children. |
