Chris & Joy Expanding Our Family Through Adoption

Education and Career

Currently, Chris works as a Turf Equipment Manager at a golf course. He has worked there for about 6 years, but has been in the industry for much longer. He went to a vocational school for his training after high school. He has a brilliant mechanical mind and is a wonderful provider for our family.

Growing up, Chris did not like school much. Looking back he thinks he was just bored because when he went to school for the turf equipment managing skills, he loved it! Chris is really good at what he does and has a terrific reputation for his abilities and ideas.

Joy left her job the day our daughter, Mercy, was born to stay home with her. Joy and Mercy stay busy swimming, visiting friends, and doing all the busy things that mothers and daughters do at age two. Before Mercy's arrival, Joy worked at the courthouse helping victims of domestic and other violence. She did this for 3 years but had been at the courthouse in other positions for almost 7 years. She loved her job but loves staying home with Mercy much more. Joy earned an Associate's Degree in Graphic Design and a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. Joy has great organizational skills but is creative as well.

Growing up, Joy did well in school, but she really wanted to be at home so it was quite a chore to get her to go. She enjoyed college much more than her earlier schooling and may continue more classes someday to obtain a Master's degree in social work.

We both feel that education is very important. Both sets of our parents were very involved in our education from a young age all the way through the end. We also feel that we have a good background of experience that will benefit our children someday because we both received good educations, but in different ways. We hope our children will go to college, and we will direct them down that path; however, Chris is a perfect example of a successful man who received his training from a vocational school instead of a traditional college. Because of this, we will be able to be supportive of either road our child chooses.
