Our Families
We have the unique situation of absolutely loving our in-laws! We enjoy our closeness with our parents without having the problem of over-involvement as some folks do. Family vacations are a common thing, and phone calls are almost daily. Chris' parents live about a mile away from us. Chris'mother is a homemaker, and his father is a trust officer. The rest of Chris's family is scattered nearby. His aunt, uncle, cousin, and grandmother are especially dear to him. Each is involved in our lives as well.
Joy's parents have recently moved to another state. Joy's father is a pastor at a wonderful church. Joy has one brother who lives in another state with his wife, and they teach English at a college. The rest of Joy's family is out of state, but she has a very special bond with her aunt and uncle, so contact is often. We are thankful that we have been put into a position to adopt and expand our family. We feel that God chooses very special adoptive parents, birth parents, and children to be a part of this incredible thing He created for the good of all involved. All of our family is very supportive of our decision to adopt.
Our FriendsWe have great friends! Most of our friends are other married couples that have many of the same beliefs and values we have. Our friends are very supportive of adoption as well. Joy's next door neighbor and friend has adopted three children (so far!). Between our family and our friends, our support group was very strong before we adopted Mercy, and is even stronger now that she has joined our family.
