Guess what?  I hate people who judge people based on the music they listen to.  In fact, it really pisses me off.  I mean, where the fuck do these people get off.  The other day I was walking down the hall when I happened to overhear a conversation between to "punks"  The conversation went like this, I kid you not:
"I think people should have the right to express themselves however they want..."
This much I agree with...
"I think people should be able to dress however they want... I hate the troll and the fucking dress code."
So you'd like to run naked around school then?
"Yeah.  And I hate how people dress like punks, but aren't.  What posers"
Ok.  Step back for a minute.  Ask yourself what she meant that statement.  Aparently she doesn't want to be judged, but she turned around and judged a group of "posers" in the very next sentence.
"Yea.  And Avril Lavine.  She is such a fake punk!"
This is where I stopped listenning and went to me next class.  But let us reflect on that last little exchange.  So you think that people should be able to dress and act however they want, but they can't dress or act like you because if they do they are "posers"  Now, I freely admit I am not a fan of Avril Lavine and I am definately not defending her music.  I am defending her freedom of expression.  You out there who think you are soooooooo super great because you believe that people should have the freedom from societies restrictions on dress and behavior, but somehow you find it in your cold, heartless bodies to judge their peers, JUST AS YOU YOURSELVES WISH NOT TO BE JUDGED.  What music you listen to has NOTHING to do with what crowd you belong to or what people you hang out with, or who you are.  I like classical music, but I also like rock, and bits of country, some techno, but that doesn't stop me from being friends with people who like gothic rock or Korean Pop or any other form of music.  If you don't get my point by now you might as well go home and give all of your money away, because you don't deserve any of it.  Another example of this kind of bullshit is based around Good Charlotte.  Another band that I only have limited respect for.  I fully admit that I like a few of their songs.  However, I am not a fan.  I don't even have the desire to go out and buy their CDs.  I am much more content to get everything I could possibly desire off of the internet.  However, people are always shitting on Good Charlotte for two reasons.  Popularity.  Selling out.  Let me explain something to those of you with below average intelligence.  Just because other people like something does not mean that you cannot like it as well.  That is just about the stupidest thing you could possibly believe.  Life is about enjoying youself, within limits.  Why should you not do something you love because everyone else is doing it.  Do you stop skiing for the rest of your life because half the population of the USA likes to downhill ski.  Fuck no you don't.  You do it because you love to.  The same applies to music.  And as for selling out: how do you expect a musical group to make any money if they don't sign a record deal.  Are they just supposed to sit around and twidle their thumbs hoping that they get a few bucks here and their from gigs.  Um.... no.  So if they "sell out" because they get a major record deal, it just means they are better off than you and your shity garage band and your jealous.  Get over it and move out of your parent's basement.
