The Proposal
~December 6, 2000~

The night Chris proposed, I didn't suspect a thing. Chris and I had plans that night to go out for dinner and go look at Christmas lights. After we left, Chris suggested Hunan Palace, the place where we had our first date. I thought that was nice since I wasnt expecting such a nice place. Before we could go eat, we had to go pay some bills. We ran the first errand then went to the mall to do the next one before we could go have dinner. We came out of Sears and Chris got this odd look on his face and started searching his pockets. He looked in the window, and sure enough, there were the keys in the ignition. Back into the mall Chris went. He came out about 20 minutes later with a coat hangar. Luckily its fairly easy to break into a Neon, so 5 minutes later we were on our way. We got to Hunan Palace and the waitress led us to the table where we had our first date. I said something to Chris about that being quite a coincidence. We ate our dinner, and when we were finished, Chris started acting really strange. First he scooted to the end of the booth and just sat there. Then he stood up. I asked him where he was going, and he replied, "Right here." Next thing I knew, he was down on his knee, pulling the ring out of his pocket and saying, "I love you. Will you spend the rest of your life with me?" He was so nervous, he quickly handed me the ring box and sat back down in his spot. After he sat down, I told him he still had to put the ring on my finger and he never waited for my response! So I gave him the box, he slid the (slightly large) ring on my finger, and I tearfully told him YES!
