Clarice considers herself to be superior to her servant, Cain, and he concurs as he has very low self-esteem due to to his lycanthropy and necromancy; both Master and servant prefer to keep their affairs private and meet only when absolutely necessary; in fact, she sends Cain to St. Louis to learn to be an animator from Anita during The Midnight Howling; both Cain and Clarice are emotionally repressed and neither would ever consider the other as a romantic interest. They have mutual respect but don't entirely trust the other person.

While they treat each other like equals, they both understand that Sef is the Master and Harmony is his servant. They have a very loving, honest relationship but have numerous other liaisons---all with each other's consent. There is rarely conflict between them, though when they do disagree about something is usually involves their children Morning Star and River. Although there is some speculation as to whether the children are biologically related to the Master, Sef claims them as his own and lavishes them love, attention, and money. They have mutual trust but are only loosely committed to making the relationship work.

A Quasi-Platonic, Codependent Relationship
Onida is the Master but usually bends to the will of his human servant, Caroline. The Master is indulgent but not particularly affectionate towards her. Perhaps because he aquired her in his final attempt to torment her father, an enemy of the Seminole tribes of Florida. Immediately after driving her mad, he basically lets her do anything she wants out of deep-seated feeling of guilt. Caroline is blindly devoted to her Master and never questions his judgement. She has the peculiar tendency of stealing children; Onida doesn't know where she gets them and would like her to stop doing it but will never tell her not to take them. To this day, those stolen infants call him father and regard him as both protector and caretaker. Conflict never arises in their interaction but they lack mutual trust and commitment.
