| Since its origins in 1965, Theatre Babylon has evolved into a "league" of individual producer-artists known as "Resident Performers" who pool their resources (venue, publicity, staff) to create Theatre Babylon's body of work. They actively support and advise one another as needed. | ||||||||
| Our Mission THEATRE BABYLON is an ensemble dedicated to the performance of new types of entertainment and new theatrical interpretations of classics. THEATRE BABYLON is a prjoect that will present works that highlight the cultural texture and geography of its region, through progressive, revisionist versions of classics and organic approaches to new works. THEATRE BABYLON is interested in the upheaval of theatre in New Orleans; Louisiana; and the Deep South by reinstating the human element in the performing arts, by encouraging professional quality entertainment and healthy and ensemble driven performance that strive to discourages "intolerance," and reaches out to artistic professionals and laymen alike. THEATRE BABYLON is about inclusion; it is about bringing in artists and engaging them in the process, and bringing in audiences rather than alienting them because of living status or cultural beliefs. THEATRE BABYLON encourages theatre as a valuable means of expression for all humanity through which people can gain a clearer perspective of their world. |
