Burning Brightly

Burn the candle on the table,
Please burn! It burns as it is able.
The wind is blowing fierce outside.
The rain is tapping, not to be denied.

The Glass is dappled with travelling patterns,
Slowly falling beads of shining light,
spreading moisture on the window,
Shifting patterns, that reflect candle yellow,
flashing bright, flashing bright.

The lightening flashes in silent brightness,
incandescent wonder, brief the day!
The moments pass, then a loud and fearful rumble,
Storms travel slower than the sunlight.
Fear has no power if you understand the light.

Keep burning candle!
Keep burning through the night!
I fear the extinguishing of your light!
You are burning so brightly, please go on!
Make it through this storm,
Burn bright with us a while.

I burn a candle thinking of you.
