Have you guys ever heard that Rolling Stones song? "You can't always get what you want. But if you try sometime, you just might find, you get what you need." A friend of mine told me a variant of the famous song lines I just repeated above. I can't remember the specific right now, but it was something along what's up there. And I answered back, almost automatically, "Sometimes, what you get isn't what you want."
I can't
I can't
I can't stand losing
But isn't that the way? You set your mind on something, and then you find out you can't have it. You end up with the least likely option on your list. At least, that's how I find that life works.
I can't
I can't
I can't stand losing
For the last time, for those of you in the cheap seats, there's this woman that I'm mad for. And even though I've resigned myself to respect her wishes, and just be her friend, I'm not going to stop loving her, and hoping she gets the best of what life has to offer. The plans I have for myself in life have to be mine alone now. She'll go her own way, so I have to go mine.
I can't
I can't
I can't stand losing
What I'm about to tell you is why hope sucks - hope is for the hopeless, as they say - what if I'm her least likely? I know, it's not likely. And just because my brain conjured it up, I'm not going to believe it for one second. But I know that kernel is just going to fester in my brain. I hope it rots there for all I care.
I can't
I can't
I can't stand losing you
Sometimes, what you get is me.
