STONEHENGE For Im the guardian of the stones that stand on Salisbury plain. This site is known through out the world for there age has brought them fame. There power captivates its crowd and never seems to rest. For this monument has to be. One of histories, undisputed best. For who or why is the question that our archaeologist they now ask. Was the thing erected by people form long forgotten past? Was it built for a mighty king? Or for the gods way up above? So worshipers could offer gifts. And chant them words of love. For Im the guardian of the stones. And even in the snow Ill guard this site in the heaviest of rain and when the gales do blow. What stories could these stones now tell, if they could talk with human tongue? Of rights and secret festivals and the songs its builders sung. Theres blue stone from Southern Wales .The Prissily Mountains to be exact. And Sarson stones from the Marlborough Downs thats now a proven, fact. So do I walk on sacred ground. Of witch these stones do now surround. Is this were they came to pray though the night and at brake of day. To see the sun with its daily birth To worship gods of mother earth so come you pagans, druids too To the solstice gathering in the month of June So come you merry travellers, come and bring your friends. And join us here on the Salisbury plain At this place we call Stonehenge. By C R Carroll 005 |
