Even before the official "twinning" in 1965, exchanges were taking place between citizens of the two cities. This page acts as a location where details of other links, that do not involve the Cambridge-Heidelberg Partnership Association, may be listed, to give a fuller picture of the activities between Cambridge and Heidelberg.
This list is by no means considered to be exhaustive.

Single student exchanges, e.g. between St John's College and Heidelberg, and Clare College and Heidelberg, have occurred.
There are links between the local Rotary Clubs, and cooperation between St John's Innovation Centre, Cambridge and Technologiepark, Heidelberg.
There are exchange links between a number of Cambridge and Heidelberg schools, e.g. Hoelderlin Gymnasium, Heidelberg and Parkside Community College, Cambridge
In 1999 Cambridge band "You Jump First" was joined by a Heidelberg duo "Fairlawn Drive" at a gig at the Portland Arms in Cambridge, to be followed by their playing at a similar event at Das Cave in Heidelberg.
Heidelberg Male Choir visited the Cambridge area in 2000.
The Cambridge Heidelberg Montpellier Youth Orchestra meets each summer, with players from Heidelberg, Montpellier (another of Heidelberg's twin cities) and Cambridge. This started in the 1960s with exchanges between the Cambridge Holiday Orchestra and the Heidelberg Youth Orchestra, but is now an independent orchestra. (2007 in Montpellier, 2008 in Cambridge, 2009 in Heidelberg, etc.)
Groups of churches visit each other on a 4-year cycle.
