Red Rocks
Just outside of Las Vegas  are the soft sandstone cliffs of Red Rocks.  Once you get over the $5 a day or $20 a year fee to climb on government funded land and the $10 a night over filled crappy campground, Red Rocks isn't too bad. The rock is soft and often falls apart in your hands, or blows out beneath your feet, leaving route grades full numbers off from the guide book. And as long as you sport climb most of the anchors seem pretty trustworthy.   All in all most people have a good time here because many of the routes are fantastic.  The best lines are on the black varnished holds and iron vein crimps.  Even cliffs with terrible rock often have at least one route worth doing.
