| Grandad's Bluff is easily seen from LaCrosse. Supposedly climbing is technically illeagal, but I've never had any problems. Just don't do anything to attract attention to yourself. The cliffs facing the city are VERY OFF LIMITS. You will be ticketed if you climb on them. Crossing the fences by the overlook is also very illeagal. There are several walls that have routes on them. Dave's Wall under the overlook is the best. There are six established routes there, with more in the works. Of the six routes, four of them are 5.12. George's Point at the pullout with the bathrooms offers moderate topropes up to 11a. The Bluff really isn't worth a special trip unless you are interested 12's, but if you are in the area it's probably worth a visit for the moderate climber. |
