Noel Galea's Aurora Opera Debut

Gozitan bass Noel Galea made his debut at the Teatru ta’ l-Opra Aurora on December 3rd in Giordano’s opera Fedora interpreting the double role of Cirillo and Boroff. At the end of the opera the audience present gave a warm and long applause to Noel Galea, the bass soloist of CHORUS URBANUS. This was the first time Noel appeared at the Aurora Theatre in an operatic role. Earlier on, he had appeared at the same theatre in the title role in CHESS, together with the Kurgan Symphony Orchestra conducted by his brother Mro. John Galea.

After studying vocal technique under the tuition of Prof. Dobreva at Opera Studio, bass Noel Galea appeared in various concerts, operas and oratorios. He has also performed in notable performance venues, which include St. Peter's Basilica, and in Aula Nervi in the presence of Pope John Paul II. He has given performances in England, Austria, Hungary, Bulgaria, Italy, Greece and France. Furthermore, he has admirably interpreted numerous roles in operatic productions in Malta together with international casts namely in La Traviata, and Macbeth at the Astra Theatre; Cosi Fan Tutte, La Cambiale di Matrimonio, Le Nozze di Figaro, Compostella, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Tosca, Werther, Romeo et Juliette and The Merry Widow at the Manoel Theatre, and Charles Camilleri's The Maltese Cross at the MCC and at Auditorium St. Germain de Pres in Paris. Galea has also sang Verdi's Messa da Requiem, Mozart's Requiem Mass and Coronation Mass, Rossini's Stabat Mater, Gounod's Messe Solenelle, John Galea's Missa Ignes Charitatis, Colin Attard's oratorio Guzeppi ta' Nazaret and Stabat Mater by Carmelo Pace. Noel Galea recorded on CD Isouard's Messa Leggera and John Galea's Ggantija with the Sofia Symphony Orchestra. Earlier this year, Mr Galea featured in the main role of John Galea's oratorio Il-Qalb ta' Kristu which was recorded on CD at the Bulgarian National Radio together with the Sofia Collegium Symphony Orchestra and published and released in both the Maltese and Italian versions by EMI Milano Italy.
