Chorus Urbanus welcomes the New Bishop

H.E. Mgr. Mario Grech, Bushop of GozoThe news of Mgr. Mario Grech's appointment as the new Bishop of Gozo was received with joy and enthusiasm by everyone around Gozo. This was evident by the interminable queues of wellwishers who flocked to his personal residence to exchange their wishes with Mgr Grech.

The Chorus Urbanus has welcomed the installation of Mgr. Mario Grech as the new Bishop of Gozo with great joy. A delegation of the Choir paid a visit to Mgr. Grech to congratulate him on this important appointment. Despite the large number of people all waiting to speak to him, Mgr. Grech did find time to talk to the members of the delegation privately. The delegation was composed by Mro. John Galea and his wife Yvonne, Mr George Borg and his wife Antoinette, and Architect Edward Scerri, President of the Choir. Mgr. Grech was accompanied by his brother, Mro. Carmel Grech, who during the period 1990 - 1995, served as President of the Chorus Urbanus.

In a short speech, Arch. Scerri mentioned the occasion of the Choir's 30th Anniversary celebrations and formally invited Mgr Grech to preside the Christmas Concert the Chorus Urbanus was going to hold on 21 December 2005 at the Gozo Cathedral. Mgr. Grech accepted the invitation and promised to attend to the concert, a promise which he fully fulfilled. In fact, the Christmas Concert offered the first occasion for Mgr. Grech to visit the Gozo Cathedral since his appointment as Bishop of Gozo.

The meeting ended with exchanges of cordial wishes by both parties.
