John Galea to conduct National Orchestra

The Manoel Theatre 2007-08 Concert season starts with a big bang this year with a challenging fare featuring the National Orchestra conducted by our musical director John Galea, a household name in the national musical scenario. The exciting programme will feature Verdi’s overture I Vespri Siciliani, John Galea’s  own vibrant composition Three Mediterranean Portraits that was recorded on CD featuring the Sofia Collegium Symphony Orchestra and released on the Savina Creations label during May 2006. The first part will conclude with the performance of Alexander Arutiunian’s Trumpet Concerto, one of the most appealing works of the 20th century, played by Joseph Chircop. The second part of the concert will feature Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, an evergreen masterpiece of the entire symphonic repertoire.
