Mro. John
Galea and his wife Yvonne celebrated
their 25th Wedding Anniversary with a
Mass at St. George's Basilica on 18
November 2007 at 5.00pm. The Mass was
led by Mgr Paul Cardona, Archpriest of
St. George's Basilica accompanied by Can. George Bezzina,
Parish Priest Emeritus of Fontana. Can.
Bezzina, who himself is a former member
of the Chorus Urbanus, delivered the sermon which
emphasized, in the light of this
occasion, the role of the marriage
institution as a catalyst for our society.
The
Chorus Urbanus, rightly enough animated the Mass with
it's singing. In the absence of Mro.
Galea, who was attending to the Mass
from the congregation, the Choir was under
the direction of Mro. Sunny Galea,
John's uncle and at times a choir member
too. The Choir sang various motets
mainly Ave Maria by
Arcadelt, Mozart's Ave Verum and
John Galea's delicate but technically
challenging O Salutaris Hostia.
After
the Mass, the Choir members together
with John and Yvonne's family members
were invited for a sumptuous party at Il
Paradiso, on the way to Xlendi. Antoinette Borg, one of the
remaining original members, presented Mr
& Mrs Galea, on behalf of all the
choir members, with an gift for their
anniversary. John Galea
thanked the choir members and pointed
out that the greatest gift he has ever
received has been the members' effort
and dedication towards the Choir which
has been the main reason behind the
choir's successes.
On behalf of all the Choir members we
would like to wish Mro. John and Mrs
Galea, a very Happy Silver
Anniversary........CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
