‘Gozo Attractions Incentive Scheme’

Mr George Borg, 3rd from r during the presentation of the sponsorship by Hon Giovanna Debono and Hon Tonio Fenech

The Chorus Urbanus is one of the beneficiaries of the ‘Gozo Attractions Incentive Scheme’ announced earlier this year. The Government has committed itself to forward financial help to those organizers of top class cultural activities in Gozo that help to promote tourism during the low season.  The Chorus Urbanus  Productions has become synonymous with the excellent fare of the Yuletide Concert held in collaboration with the National Orchestra in Gozo.  Past editions have seen the choir perform at Xaghra Basilica, the parish churches of Sannat and Fontana, St. George’s Basilica, the Gozo Cathedral and last year at Teatru Astra.

The letter of commitment was presented by the Hon. Tonio Fenech, Parliamentary Secretary (Ministry of Finance), to the choir’s secretary Mr. George Borg, together with other seven beneficiaries during a  presentation ceremony held at the Gozo Ministry in the presence of the Hon. Giovanna Debono, (Minister for Gozo). These funds have been made available through the Good Causes Fund and will help to partially ease the great financial burden incurred in connection with the organization of Il-Kuncert tal-Milied, held in aid of Arka Foundation. This year the concert reaches its 10th edition. This yearly event features the Chorus Urbanus and the National Orchestra who have graced us with their unfailing presence under the direction of John Galea.

The tenth edition of Il-Kuncert tal-Milied will be held on Friday 21st  December 2007. Further details will be posted on our website in the coming weeks.
