Choir Delegation to participate in Barcelona Conference

Our musical director John Galea and Chorus Urbanus secretary George Borg have been invited to attend an international meeting of choir specialists to be held in Barcelona by the Moviment Coral Catala from November 10- 12, 2006. During this conference, Barcelona meeting Mro. Galea will be reading a paper on Maltese choral life entitled "Evaluating the Past, Assessing the Present to Project into the Future". Mro. John Galea will also participate in the workshop "Choral Music from the Mediterranean" with presentation of CDs of choral works performed by Chorus Urbanus, including insights into his compositional technique and harmonic analysis of pieces performed. Mr. George Borg will be participating in the workshop "Music from the Mediterranean Area - A common Choral Event?" regarding the future organization and articulation of a Mediterranean Choral Event. The aim of this session is that of finding the best formula for presenting different types of music from the various cultures of the Mediterranean area and their choirs.

The event is sponsored by the Moviment Coral Catala; Museu d'Historia de Catalunya; Ajuntament de Barcelona, Istitut de Cultura; La Caixa; Europa Cantat Mediterranean Center and Generalitat de Catalunya, Departement de Cultura.

This invitation to participate together with other specialists from various countries bordering the Mediterranean is evidence of the name that Chorus Urbanus enjoys internationally.
