Cana Movement's "Familja Qalb tad-Deheb" Award

Chorus Urbanus at the Cana Movement Ceremony

Once again, Chorus Urbanus took part in the ceremony of the awarding of "Familja Qalb tad-Deheb" organised for the 36th time by Cana Movement in Gozo. This award is given to that Gozitan family which in the opinion of a jury had distinguished itself  in demonstrating strong family values in the face of difficult circumstances. This year Family Debrincat from Victoria was chosen for the 2006 award.

This ceremony was part of Cana Movement's special family celebrations which apart from this ceremony included also a Pontificial Mass by the Bishop of Gozo at the Cana Movement's Chapel in Victoria. As is previous years Chorus Urbanus participated in both occasions.

The award ceremony was held at Palazzo Palina, Ta' Cenc, on Saturday 13th January 2007. It was presided by HE Dr Edward Fenech Adami, President of Malta, HE Mgr Mario Grech, Bishop of Gozo, Hon Giovanna Debono, Minister for Gozo and Hon Anton Tabone, Speaker of the House of Representatives. Other distinguished guests were also present. Chorus Urbanus presented two musical pieces, namely Tu sei Bella.. from Giuseppe Verdi's Giovanna d'Arco and Oliver Sperling's Gloria de Noel. The ceremony ended with the interpretation of the Maltese National Anthem a 4 voci by the Chorus Urbanus.

The following morning, on Sunday 14th January 2006, the Chorus Urbanus animated the Pontificial Mass that concluded this year's Cana Movement's Family celebrations. The High Mass was held at Cana Movement's Chapel in Victoria and was presided by HE the Bishop of Gozo accompanied by a number of priests. Chorus Urbanus interpreted Missa Brevis by Boyer and a number of religious motets.
