The history of this PARTICULAR MK2 Grifter is quite intriging, and begins in 1985 in Northamptonshire
The cycle was purchased around early to mid 1985 from an auction in Northampton. It was shared between myself and my older brother.
After obtaining the cycle, it needed new cables and inner tubes, after which it was ridable. Having had the cycle for 2 years, it was transferred to a new house when the family moved, followed again, by a move 2 years later, then a further move, after 3 years.
The last sighting of this cycle was that of it being ridden away after being sold in late 1992, Because of me having takien ownership of a Metallic Red BMX.
10 years passed and the urge to once again own a Grifter gripped and would not ease.
Noticing an ad on a website, i arranged purchase of a Grifter and awaited delivery.
When delivered, close scrutiny Revealed it was the Cycle originally owned by myself and my brother.
Within the ten years of non ownership of this cycle, it travelled from northamptonshire to its final resting place of
It is now back in my ownership, in North London, where it will stay, unless of course i move again.
A restoration is being considered , but originality seems the best option. |
