Space Quest III
Pirates of Pestulon
After defeating Sludge Vohaul near the planet of Labion,
Roger Wilco drifts into space in an escape pod. He sleeps in suspended
animation in a cryogenic chamber on the pod. After an unknown
amount of time, a garbage freighter scoops up some space debris
as part of its routine duty. Roger's pod goes with it, and as
the pod gets dumped with the trash, the switch on the chamber
is activated. Roger wakes up again as a result.
He exits the pod and finds himself in a huge room full of metallic
trash. He explores what he can, from the conveyor belt leading
to a shredder to a grabber that moves on tracks. Looking around,
he discovers a ship among the trash. Roger sees it as a means
of escape since it still appears in good condition. He finds what
is needed for the ship to function again, and he finally escapes
the freighter.

Once again, he is lost in space without any knowledge
of where he is. Looking at the radar on the ship's navigation
computer, he finds three places to visit. One is a very hot planet
called Ortega, where volcanoes and lava are very abundant. Another
is a popular fast food restaurant in the galaxy called Monolith
Burger. The third is a planet called Phleebhut, where the sand
is purple and thunderstorms are strong. No matter where he goes,
there's something new to explore.
The planets of Phleebhut and Ortega have a variety of dangers.
On Phleebhut, there is a large snake that could literally eat
an entire human being. There are also hungry pod creatures stuck
to rocks and poisonous scorpions. Roger's worst adversary on the
planet is a mandroid out to kill him for not paying for something
back on Labion. On Ortega, the danger is mainly the sweltering
temperatures and the risk of falling into lava.
What Roger discovers in his adventure is that there is some sort
of evil scheme with a software corporation called ScumSoft. Out
of curiosity, he intends to find out what it might be. Something
about ScumSoft tells him that they're up to no good. Also, there
are two helpless guys in need of being rescued: the Two Guys from
Andromeda. If Roger can find them, he can make it possible for
great computer games, like science-fiction adventure games, to
be made. It all depends on him.
