The Vengeance
Drug lord Jessie Bains, better known as the "Death
Angel," has been arrested and charged with attempted murder
on a police officer, drug trafficking, and other felonies. His
sentence is 97 years in the Lytton County Jail. With Bains removed
from the streets, Lytton is becoming more peaceful and safe everyday.
In addition, the Lytton Police Department can turns its resources
to other issues. They don't have to worry about something big
now that Bains has been put in the slammer.
Sonny Bonds, detective in the LPD Homicide Division, arrives at
work for another day as a police officer. There does not seem
to be much going on in the station. Burglary and Narcotics Division
seem to be overloaded with paperwork, and even Homicide does not
have anything new. Bonds spends time at the target practice area,
where he sharpens his shooting skills and adjusts the sights on
his standard-issue firearm. He'll never know when it could save
his life.
Bonds returns to the Homicide office just to receive
some shocking news from Captain Fletcher Hall. Jessie Bains has
escaped from jail and has kidnapped one of the officers at the
jail. Bonds is naturally stunned, because the former Death Angel
could be out for revenge and maybe out to get him as well. The
captain assigns Bonds to investigate with Keith Robinson as his
partner. Bonds is determined to catch Bains and put him away from
society for good.
Bonds and Robinson begin their investigation at the Lytton County
Jail. There, Bonds obtains a recent mug shot of Bains and a little
information from a prisoner who witnessed the daring escape. After
leaving, they get an urgent message from dispatch saying that
Bains's getaway car has been spotted at the Oak Tree Mall. The
two detectives arrive to find that the car has been abandoned.
They become surprised when they learn that Bains has stolen another
car to get away.
What follows is a game of cat-and-mouse with Bains being the slick
rat. Even if Bonds and his partner are right behind his tail,
Bains is always one step ahead. The trail leads to more indications
of Bains's insanity and rage. Bonds also discovers that Bains
has particular people in mind to kill, and what strikes Bonds
hard is the fact that he could be next. Detective Sonny Bonds
must seek and put an end to Bains's reign of terror, or else the
Death Angel will finally gain satisfaction from his vengeance.
