General Story Summary

The story of "Dragon Knights" starts off with the three Dragon Knights (who have just beheaded the great demon Nadil) returning home with the severed head to the palace where the Dragon Emperor lives. Although Rune (the Water Dragon Knight) begs the other two to head home quickly to where his majesty awaits, Rath (the Fire Dragon Knight) and Thats (the Earth Dragon Knight) continue to be distracted by their desires (like killing demons and searching for treasures and riches). On their way back, they meet a girl Cesia, who is actually a demon herself. She tries to trick them by leading them to her step-mother (a man-eathing witch)'s lair but fails. She ends up homeless and eventually finds herself at the palace thanks to the emperor Lykouleon, and becomes the fortune teller there. The three knights eventually return home, but after some commotion at the palace, Thats and Kichel, Rune, and Rath and Cesia set off on separate quests. Thats and Kichel search for the Three Great Treasures, Rune searches for the Mizu Sekai (Water World) and the truth about the disappearance of the Seirei-zoku (Sprite Race), and Rath and Cesia search for the Fuugen no Tsue (Mystical Wind Wand). As their quest continues, they uncover secrets, including the true identity of Rath. After their quest, successful or not, they return home to the palace once again. This time it turns out that the great demon whose head is now stored and locked away deep in the castle has taken over Rath's body.  Soon the demons begin to make their way into the Dragon Palace trying to reclaim the head back to Nadil. Cesia saves Rath by restoring him into another body, and decides to return to Kainardia (the demon's country) with Nadil and the other demons so they would withdraw temporarily. The three knights then venture out once again (this time searching for the entrance to Kainardia -- the home of the demons) in order to get Cesia back. Read the volume summaries for more details and spoilers. And believe me, there's alot more happening!! In order to keep this short, I skipped many details in between. Or go buy yourself the volumes.
