Beep – beep – beep – beep – SMACK!
“Josh. Josh? You need to get up.” Donna buried her face in the pillow in an attempt to sneak in a few more minutes sleep. She felt Josh’s arm snake around her body as he spooned her from behind.
“Good morning to you too, Donnatella,” he whispered as he nuzzled her hair. His hand began rubbing circles on her bare belly.
“Mmmm… good morning,” she replied drowsily. She covered his hand with her own and pulled it up to her breast, where he eagerly began to caress the swollen flesh. She pushed her body back against his and felt his erection rub against her ass. “Someone’s in a good mood this morning.”
“I’m always in a good mood when I wake up with you in my arms.” He moved his lips to her ear lobe, tugging it between his teeth. “Wanna make my mood even better?” he whispered wickedly into her ear, as he shifted his hips forward to press closer against her.
She glanced at the bedside clock. “You don’t have time. You need to get into the office,” she complained.
“I don’t have time? What about you – you work the same place that I do.”
“Nuh-uh,” she replied. “My new boss isn’t the slave-driver that you are – I don’t have to be in until 8:30.”
“I keep forgetting,” he groaned. “I hate not having you in the office with me, but if it means waking up with you every morning, it’s worth it.”
Beep – Be - Click!
His arm shot out and quickly turned off the offending alarm. “How about we make good use of the brief time we *do* have?” he suggested as his hand once again cupped her breast.
“That sounds like an excellent idea.” His lips wandered from her ear down to her neck and across her shoulders, sending delicious shivers through her body. He held her in place against him with his hand at her breast. His cock nudged insistently at her rounded ass cheeks until she shifted her legs apart so that it slid between her thighs. He felt hot and hard and she ached to have him inside her. “Don’t wait,” she told him.
“Are you sure?” he questioned her. “You can’t be ready yet.” His hand moved to the juncture of her legs, his fingers seeking her center. To his surprise, he found that she was already very aroused. He grasped his cock and gently guided it to her opening. He teased her with the feel of him and then slowly pushed inside of her.
“God, Joshua, more,” she urged him. He rocked forward against her, slipping deeper inside. His hand returned to her golden curls and began to lightly tease her. Not satisfied with that, she grasped his hand and moved it to where she ached the most. She held his hand in place with her own and ground it against her. Josh picked up the rhythm and began to move his hips in motion with his hand.
She removed the hand covering his and reached back to grasp his hip. They moved in tandem, the only sound the panting of their breaths. Finally, Donna felt herself start to climax, her muscles tightening momentarily before releasing her in a rush of pleasure. Josh felt her body’s reaction and gave in to his own orgasm.

“Don- Ginger!” Josh bellowed from the depths of his office. The day had started well, but it was quickly headed downhill. Over night, they had encountered a problem with the Senate Majority concerning school vouchers. Leo had assigned him the job of smoothing things out.
“GINGER!” he yelled again. When the redhead failed to appear, he got up and walked to the door. She was just getting up from her desk and headed straight into his office without saying a word. He followed and closed the door sharply behind them.
“Don’t mind me, I’m just the guy -” he started angrily.
“I don’t just wiggle my nose or nod my head and appear instantly,” Ginger interrupted him to complain. “When you scream my name, I come as quickly as possible.”
He took a deep breath and started again. “I know. But when I yell for you, it means I need you for something. It’s not just for fun. I need information on school vouchers … and I need it *yesterday*,” he groused.
“No kidding,” she mumbled under her breath as she walked back to the bullpen. When Donna had first approached her about the job switch, she had been hesitant. She liked working in Communications, liked being part of the team that created the words spoken by the President. Operations was ok, but it didn’t have the same immediate impact. The results of her work were subtler.
And then there was the Josh factor. Josh’s moods swung from euphoric to angry to maudlin on a constant basis. And he seemed to hold a grudge against her because she wasn’t Donna. Toby may have grumbled a lot, but he was always consistent. Donna, of course, had warned her about his moods, and apologized profusely for putting her in this position. It helped that she knew she was helping her friend, but she still missed Communications.
She searched through the computer database for the information Josh needed and wondered how Donna put up with him every day. Love must do strange things to you, she mused. Either that, or the sex was really great. She thought about Josh and his unruly looks and loquacious nature. Nah, she thought, and went back to searching the database.

Bounce. Bounce. Bounce.
The noise was giving Donna a headache. Every day, all day, Toby bounced those little rubber balls. He bounced them against the window to get Sam’s attention. He bounced them against the bookcase when he was thinking. He even bounced them at her.
Bounce. Bounce. Whoosh!
Four years of playing outfield for the region’s #1 high school softball team had honed her instincts. She held out her hand and deftly caught the flying pink mass as it sailed by her desk. She heard a low whistle from inside the office.
“Nice catch, Donna. Ever think of trying out for the Yankees? They could use you,” Toby commented as she got up and entered his office. She carefully set the ball in the center of his desk and watched as he picked it up and began absently tossing it from hand to hand. “We’re working on a package for education. I’ll need all the latest figures on test scores, dropout rate, school safety, etc. I need them by noon.”
Having experienced Josh and Donna’s curious banter in the past, he expected her to present him with some interesting facts regarding the state of today’s public schools. He eagerly anticipated her input. Instead, she remained strangely silent.
He lobbed the ball past her and hit Sam’s window dead center. “Sam!”
Sam appeared in the office doorway. He smiled at her. “Hey, Donna. Toby, what’s up?”
“Hi, Sam,” she replied as she gave him a wan smile. Sam was the one bright spot in this new assignment. He was always unwaveringly cheerful and usually had an extra muffin or pastry to share with her each morning. He made her days in the Communications Office bearable. It wasn’t that she disliked Toby; they worked very well together. But they were missing some vital connection that she and Josh had shared and she missed it.
“Sam, we need to start working on a statement about school vouchers and education,” Toby began. Donna took that as her cue to leave and went back to her desk. She had just sat down when the bouncing started again. She searched through the desk drawer and took two more aspirin. It was going to be a long day.

They were just finishing up when Toby stopped Sam on his way out the door. “Sam, one more thing before you go.”
Sam turned and looked at him expectantly.
“Have you had any problems, noticed anything wrong, with Donna?”
Sam shook his head, not quite sure where Toby was going with the conversation. “No, she’s seems to be fine. What’s going on, Toby?” he questioned.
“Nothing,” he replied. “No, wait. That’s not true. Yesterday, Ginger stopped me down in the mess. We talked about the World Series for a few minutes. She seemed almost grateful to have an excuse not to go back upstairs to Josh right away. And Donna seems awfully quiet, don’t you think?”
Sam thought about it. “Maybe. She’s just getting into the rhythm of this office. No big deal.”
“Except, I think it is,” Toby corrected him.
“What are you getting at?”
“Donna’s been a useful addition to this office- she’s bright, she works hard, she always has the information I need- but none of us is happy with the arrangement. I’m not happy. Josh isn’t happy. Ginger’s not happy. Donna *obviously* isn’t happy.”
“I’m happy,” Sam chimed in. Toby just scowled at him. “Ok, but for the
record – I am. And I’m not sure happiness is the
point, anyway. The change in personnel was to avoid any hint of impropriety.
We’re here to do a job, not make our friends’ love lives easier.”
Toby’s scowl deepened. “I’m not so sure that the two aren’t more closely related than we thought. Josh doesn’t seem as focused as he was before the change. Working with Donna gave him that … something extra. She inspired him and made him work harder.”
Sam was silent for a moment. He had noticed a distinct difference in Josh’s performance as well. As much as he hated to admit it, he knew that Toby was right. “What do you propose we do?”
“I’m not sure.”

“Leo, I need to talk to you.”
“Yes, Toby, what can I do for you this fine afternoon?” Leo asked as he looked up from what he was working on.
“We were wrong.”
Leo frowned at the serious tone. “About?”
“Donna. She needs to go back to Josh.”
“Toby, we discussed this. Donna and Josh cannot work together as long as they are dating. You and CJ and Sam all agreed. What happened?”
“Nothing happened. But it’s obvious that it’s not working. No one is happy with this arrangement, Leo,” Toby assured him. “We need to think of some other options. Or say ‘to hell’ with what the public thinks and let them continue to work together.”
“I’m not so sure that’s wise.”
“What isn’t wise is to let this continue. Can you tell me anyone honestly believes –”
At that moment, Josh burst through the office door. “Leo, we need to talk.”
Leo scowled at him and then looked at Margaret, who was hovering in the doorway behind him. “I’m sorry, Leo, he wouldn’t listen…” she began.
“It’s ok, Margaret. Go back to your desk,” Leo said soothingly. He turned to glare at Josh. “Now, what couldn’t wait for 10 minutes while I talked to Toby?”
Josh nervously shifted his weight and ran a hand through his hair. He cast a glance at Toby. “Umm, it’s not exactly a problem, but… Ginger is a great assistant – she’s organized, efficient and great at fact-finding – but it’s not working, Leo. I want Donna back,” he finished firmly.
Leo and Toby shared a look. “We’ve discussed this already, Josh. You can’t.”
“Why not? I realize that this isn’t the best situation because we’re involved with one another. But there isn’t anyone in this administration – hell, in DC – that can accuse us of improper behavior on the job. We work well together. If you’re worried about what might happen if we break up, we’ll revisit the problem then. In the meantime, I need her back in my office. She understands when I need to be pushed to get something done. She knows how to smooth over gaffes I make when meeting with jackass members of Congress –“
“Fine.”
“I know how to deal with her crazy filing system. We’re tuned to each other’s moods. We –“ Josh stopped. “Wait. What did you just say?”
“Fine. Donna’s you’re assistant again,” Leo growled as he returned his attention to the papers on his desk. “Now get out of here.”
