first off, congratulations to the striped one for completing a historically unparalleled feat in golf... the tiger slam!  today was the first day that i actually watched golf on tv.  it was a weird mixture of relaxation and tension.  tiger woods is the first player to win all four majors consecutively.  i find that to be astounding.  i don't even know if i can classify myself as a beginning golfer, because i suck so badly, but i can appreciate how hard the game is, and how remarkable to be so dominant in a sport.  yay tiger!

it kind of depresses me that he's a few months younger than i am.  i feel so underachieving!

i extended my shopping spree today, but i bought possibly one of the most unsexy items ever... my first pair of real running shoes.  why do athletic shoes have to be either so boring or so ugly?  i don't get it.  don't they have any reasonable designers working at adidas or nike?  the stuff is either bland or outrageous.  even the new highly advertised silver/white adidas SL's are pretty messed up... they manage to be possibly the first shoe that is both boring and ugly.

i would have said that buying socks is worse than buying running shoes, but there are some really cool socks out there.  personally, i have a penchant for argyle socks.

i ended up buying a pair of all-terrain new balances.  yeah, i don't really go off-road at all, but i couldn't bear buying the boring white ones or the new fucked up nike's, you know, the ones that look like a roam sock with plastic lace-replacing supports.  what is up with that?

so now i have no legitimate excuses to complain about my legs when i run at taiko practice.  before, i was whining about my cross-trainers giving me bad support, resulting in what felt like a big bruise along my entire shin.  that injury kept me flat-footed, and it really hurt my stride, keeping it abnormally short like i was shuffling my feet.

foot locker was having this "buy one, get 50% off your next item" thing, so i was tempted to buy a new pair of basketball shoes, too.  i really like my garnett's, so i looked at the new ones.  they're really fugly.  i mean FUGLY.  they look like some reject footpieces from robocop's android parts warehouse.  augh.  they ruined a perfectly good shoe.  nike's got some weird crap out there.  i wonder if everyone smokes out while they design their "house of hoops" stuff.  and that "shox" line doesn't seem to be doing very well.

so i wound up not buying anything else.  i went back home with my pair of tame new balances.  yay.

i roamed the mall for a bit.  it's expanded!  they have a bang & olufsen, which is quite nice.  my dream is to have a b&o system in my house.  silver.  *drool*

i was tempted to get superman t-shirts for all the graduating members of stanford taiko, but i forgot that i didn't know any of their sizes.  *shhh*  it'll be a surprise!

i'm waiting for that abercrombie & fitch store to open up.  and then you'll know where i'll be at.  no more driving to hillsdale mall to hook up with my favorite store.

my clothing phases were gap (freshman and sophomore year), hilfiger (senior and co-term year), and now abercrombie.  you can probably guess that i still flirt with the relaxed college look.  jeans and a t-shirt practically all the time.  yeah, i need to dress better.  funny thing is, i went through a button-down/khaki phase six years ago.  i even wore a tie a few times.  but japan changed all that.  it was part of that "trying to look american" phase, which never really left even to this day.

i mean, i don't own anything black.  and i'm asian!  imagine that...

just another lazy sunday.  off to get some sushi or a nice deep-fried chimichanga.  and then it's relaxing to the silly escapades of mtv's _jackass_ crew.  johnny knoxville is a genius.
