Maureen Brown - Be Close

If you're like me, and enjoy reading the liner notes of a CD, you know of the strange feeling you get whenever you read the credits of a new CD and recognize a name. Its like a strange kind of Deja vu that has you asking "Where have I heard that name before?"

Case in point, Maureen Brown, who has been named Maple Blue's Awards "The Best Canadian Blues Drummer" an amazing 4 times, and nominated "Best Vemale Vocalist" three times. Beyond her talent as a musician, Maureen is a pretty darn good writer as well. Those kind of credentials can only mean one heck of a potential, and in this case (As we say in Newfoundland) "The proof is in the Puddin'".

"Be Close" is Maureen's debute CD, produced by Ian Thomas, featuring special guest's Kim Wilson (Fabulous Thunderbirds) and Richie Hayward. A toe tappin' tour through the various genre's of blues, from New Orleans to the Great White North, it's easy to fall in love with "Be Close".

But "Be Close" is not her only recorded work. Her name keeps popping up in the credits of the some of the best blues recordings on the market today. Keep an eye (and an Ear) out for her, and sooner or later, Maureen will "Be Close".
