A Chilean University student is auctioning off her virginity to raise the money to complete her studies. The 21-year-old, from Santiago, told La Cuarta online: "I will provide a certificate signed by a doctor to prove I am a virgin. No man has ever touched me."
The auction was being conducted by a Chilean radio station and the opening bid was around $1,000.00 Canadian. Station director Mariano Perez said: "I am personally against this kind of thing but people are free to do what they want with their lives."
However, a few days later it was announced that The Student has changed her mind, and would not auction off her virginity. When she backtracked on the auction plans she never revealed why she gave up on the idea. Then a week later, the girl, who gave her name only as Sandy, said a woman benefactor offered her around $4,000.00 Canadian to keep it.
Sandy, 21, from Peru, had planned to auction off her virginity on Santiago radio station Radio W to pay for her studies in the Chilean capital. La Cuarta online reported she rang Radio W presenter El Rumpy and told him the woman's offer was the best offer she got among "millions of emails". Sandy said: "I got so many emails offering me marriage, houses, cars and money from many countries around the world. But many people were also offering advice and telling me not to go ahead with the plan. Then this woman's email came along and she was so nice, she offered me money to pay for my college fees with no strings attached. But once I have a job I will pay her back."
Sandy went on to say, "I apologise to everyone who got involved in this story, but I couldn't go ahead with it. It would be a big mistake. Now I want to save myself for someone I love."
