Offense was the key factor for the Sox, pounding out 15 hits and putting the game out of reach early. The Sox did the majority of their damage in the 1st, scoring 10 runs on nine hits. The big blows in the inning came from Brian Frievogel, Matt Rosner and Philip Naylor. Naylor and Rosner both collected two RBI doubles in the inning. Freivogel later blasted a two-run homer, his second in consecutive games with this one coming from the right side of the plate. The Sox would add one run each in the 4th, 5th and 6th. Shawn Gardner singled a run home in the 4th; Mike Marconi doubled in the 5th and later crossed the plate on a Jason Livingston sacrifice fly. Scott Yaniszewski rounded out the Sox scoring in the 6th with an RBI single of his own. The Braves got on the board in the 2nd and 4th with RBI singles from Matt Reames in both innings. They would add their final run in the 6th with an RBI single off the bat of Scott Sprouse. With the early cushion, Sox starter Brett Bostick (5-0, 1.81) cruised to his fifth consecutive victory. His line for the night consisted of 4 IP, 4 H, 2 K and allowing only one earned run. Newly acquired Robert Scott relieved Bostick in the 5th, giving up three hits, striking out five and not surrendering and earned run in only two innings of work. Gardner came in to close out the game for the Sox working a scoreless 7th while striking out one and allowing a hit in the inning. The Sox collected 15 hits from nine different batters in the game.
