| Dashboard Confessional with guests Brand New, MxPx, and Piebald Wednesday, October 8th, 2003 Congress Theater Chicago, Illinois This was the first real concert i've ever been to (I went to a DC Talk concert when I was 10, but I don't think that really counts), and it was AMAZING! Piebald started out the show, playing songs we all know like "Just A Simple Plan", "American Hearts", and "Fear And Loathing On Cape Cod", but also played a couple of new ones, including a song about ice cream that will be on the new record out early next year. They were great. Next up was the band I was looking the most forward to next to Dashboard, and that's Brand New. They were AMAZING! They started out with "Sic Transit Gloria...Glory Fades", then went right into "The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows". They also played good ones like "Guernica" and "Jude Law & A Semester Abroad". But the best part of their set was when, during "Okay, I Believe You, But My Tommy Gun Don't", Chris from Dashboard came out and started singing HARDCORE style, throwing the mic and everything. It was FUCKING AWESOME!!! Then they of course closed it out with "Seventy Times 7". Next up was MxPx, and out of all the bands there, I probably knew the least of their songs, but it seemed people were more hyped for them than Brand New. They played songs like "Responsibility" and "Chick Magnet", as well as lots of songs from their new cd. Then they closed it out with what else but "Punk Rawk Show", which, I have to say i'm kind of getting sick of. Finally, the messiah's came out and Dashboard started their set. It was unbelievable. I don't remember what they started with, but I know they played great ones like pretty much every song off the new album and a couple of old favs. But, during "So Impossible", JESSE from Brand New came out and started singing like Chris did during Brand New's set. Then they closed it out with of course "Hands Down" to cap off an amazing show. These guys definetly need to go out on tour again soon, cause this was the last date. |
