It's Philip again.  Christy's recovery is moving along slowly so you're going to be stuck with me for a while.

Christy is not in too much pain when she is lying down or sitting still; however, movement of any kind is painful.  She was expecting to be feeling a lot better by now, but I think the
additional things done during her surgery have made her recovery more difficult.

We had an additional challenge yesterday.  I picked Damon up after school, and his cough that had started over the weekend had gotten worse.  It was really hard for him because he has always been able to have Mama take care of him when he's been sick.  However, that was not possible this time.  Eventually, he was able to make do with me as a pinch hitter.  I took him to see his doctor this morning, and I was relieved that all he has is allergies and a cold.  So, he was able to go to school for the remainder of the day while I picked up some medicine on the way home.  He should be over the cold and ready (at least in terms of his cold and allergies) for a full week of school by Monday.

He seems to be doing ok in general so far.  He has been really good about giving Mama gentle hugs, and he has let her rest when she needs to.

I've been riding the roller coaster the last couple of days.  My head was spinning trying to figure out how to manage all of the things that needed to be done: getting Damon to and from school, getting Christy's mother to the airport today, etc.  It was hard to get over the hump, but things started to fall into place when I was finally able to tell people that I needed help.  Our family members have all gone home now, and it's just the three of us at home.  I was nearing panic about how we were going to make it, but today I realized that all of our friends from church, school, and work are here to help us.  We still have a long road to go, but I feel better knowing that you are here to help us along the way.  For those of you who have seen Peter Jackon's "The Fellowship of the Ring", yesterday for me was much like the point in the Council of Elrond where Frodo says, "I will take the ring to Mordor, but I do not know the way."  Unlike the story, though, our fellowship is much larger, and I cannot image leaving you at any point along the way.

Thank you for your continued support.
