The port that they put in last Friday really threw me for a loop. The first several days were really tough - I couldn't do much with either side . . I felt so helpless. However, the surgery for the port was easier to recover from, and I'm getting better each day.
WATCH OUT ! I'm getting independent now! I'm so excited - I showered all by myself today (& washed my hair). . . it took alot out of me, but I did it without Philip's help! I was also able to shave all by myself ! (Philip got to do that for me last time . . . it was pretty funny)
I was able to dry and style my own hair - well, I did need Philip's help with the blow dryer. . . I wielded the brush as he directed the blow dryer for me. Needless to say, I slept for almost 3 hours after this whole ordeal today - so I'm still very "fragile" in that sense.
I just feel like a little kid discovering what I can and can't do by myself. . . . I've been waiting for this day for a month now - and it's finally here. I think I might even be able to fix a simple dinner, etc. . . . so it's coming - slow and sure.
Poor Philip - he's still sleeping in the Guest room. (Guess it's a good thing that we even have a guest room.) Although recovery is coming along, I still have too much pain to sleep on one side, and the side I can sleep on only lasts a few hours at the most. So, I'm still sleeping with around 4-6 pillows - which doesn't leave much room in the bed for him. He's a trooper, though - he's hanging in there. Our guest bed is getting alot of use, and will be really broke-in when actual guests come to use it!
I begin Chemotherapy on WEDNESDAY. I'm not really sure what to expect, and it's driving me crazy - I like to have all my ducks in a row and know exactly what to expect.....and that's not the case right now. Guess I'll find out soon enough!
We went out to dinner at the Macaroni Grill tonight in a last ditch effort to have a night out before Chemo starts and knocks me on my rear again. It was nice, and of course, very yummy!
Just wanted to say "Hi" to everyone and give you an update on recovery, etc.
