Hey Everyone !

Well, this has been an exciting week.

School is officially out, and I think MOM needs this summer break as much as Damon does!!!

I've essentially been really dragging ever since chemo started.  It's not as bad as it was during chemo treatment, but I've just been really tired.  However, I only have 2 more!

This week, I went in for blood work and found out that I had low Platelets.  Very Low... they are supposed to be 150,000 and mine were 17,000.    He had them repeat the test the next day, and they had dropped down to 10,000.

So, I had a platelet transfusion on Wed.  That wasn't any different than receiving any other IV medicine, do it wasn't weird or anything.  HOWEVER, I had a severe allergic reaction to them.  I started lightly itching before I left the hospital, but the nurse just gave me a Benadryl tablet, and sent me on my way thinking that it was just a little reaction that would pass.

I headed over to get Damon from school and the reaction got worse.  After about 15 minutes, I was itching all over, and I was starting to swell.  I called the cancer center, knowing I was going to be driving right by their office, and they wanted me to drop by.  When I got there, my ears had swollen to about 3 times their size, my eyes were swollen, my nose and nasal passages had swollen, my lips looked and felt like "Bubba's"from Forrest Gump, and my throat was itiching and had started to swell.  I also had hives all over.  ARGH!!!!!   I resembled the Elephant Man !

They administered some IV allergy meds to reverse the reaction, and after about 30 minutes, things started to return to a state of normal.....thank goodness!  Damon had a school program in about 2 hours following this episode -  I looked really cute, let me tell ya!

Things have returned to normal, and I go back today to see where my counts stand today.  My counts today will determine when I can start my #2 chemo treatment.  I'm
supposed to start Chemo on TUESDAY.

Disappointing news.........my hair has started shedding!!!!  I'm going to just try not to "aggrivate" it and see if it's just thinning out a bit - maybe It won't ALL fall out.   I've got so much,  I could go without hats or a wig now - I just feel very "butch".  I hope I can keep most of it.   We'll just have to see!
*Sigh*

Have a good day. . . . .
