Well, we've made it ! I am now in the midst of my "break". I have yet to see the Radiation Oncologist, so I don't know when I will officially start Radiation. I should be able to get some kind of an answer on that tomorrow when I see my Chemo Oncologist.
So, right now I'm kind of in LA LA LAND. I'm thinking I will start Radiation somewhere around the first full week of March. . . but I"m not sure yet.
I'm feeling well after my last chemo treatment - just tired (as usual). This last treatment really hit me hard - I guess it wanted to go out with a BANG! But, it's over now - and I'm having "breaktime".
I'm getting scheduled to have a PET scan here in the next week or so - it will scan my entire body for any signs of tumors, cancer cells, etc. . . . . I'm assuming this will show up clear, seeing as my CAT, brain & bone scans were clear when we started Chemo. . . . . but the official word will be here in a few weeks.
I'm not looking forward to my last 3 chemo treatments, as they will be a pain in the rear to adminster - it's a daily thing that lasts a week each time. Yuk! But, that is when the REAL countdown begins . . . . 3 . . . . .2. . . . . . 1. . . . . and we're DONE!!!!!!!!
I will most likely have Reconstruction Surgery over the summer, and then I'll be home free.
My hair has started growing back!!!! It's just Peach Fuzz, but it IS growing. The Dr. office told me to let it grow, seeing as the last 3 treatments are not "as guaranteed" to cause hair loss - I might lose it then, or I might not. . . . might as well let it have the head start growing period during Radiation in the hopes that I won't lose it again. If I do lose it again, Oh Well. . . It will start growing shortly thereafter.
Philip can't stop rubbing my head when he walks past me . . . . he has called me "his little peach" - and last night made references to a Chia Pet !!!!! Can you believe that ??? He's in trouble for that one. . . . "my little peach" is kind of cute . . . but a CHIA PET ?!?!?!?!!? Ohhhhhhh, he's gonna get it. ;) - Oh well, he makes me LAUGH! HA HA !
