Chasing Gavin A world without peace

I have always thought of how the world would be like without peace. I have always thought of how the world would look like without it. I have always thought of how the world would be like without the word peace existing at all. Would I still be here?Would my mom ever stop scolding me? Or would my dad and his boss ever stop fighting over a bewildering point? Or would motorists ever stop honking their cars, pedestrians waving their fists on reckless drivers, or commuters struggling over a seat on a jeepney? And if matters get even worse-would politicians ever stop graft and corruption? Would negotiators still go on with fooling consumers? Would the cross fires in Mindanao ever cease? Would I still be writing this? Whoa! I think I'll never be able to draw this list to a close. Questions like these would be bothering me all the time if we don't do something about it. I just couldn't stand it any longer.

But come to think of it. Peace is just a simple five-letter word. Nothing would certainly change if it never existed in the dictionary. It would probably be the same without it. The world would never revolutionize at all-only that...I wouldn't be here. My mom would never stop scolding me. My brothers would carry on hogging the car. My dad and his boss would never agree on something. Pedestrians will always wave their fists on reckless drivers, and commuters will always fight over seats on jeepneys. Politicians will always have graft and corruption in their vocabulary. Negotiators and consumers would still be fooling each other. The cross fires in Mindanao will never come to an end. And in fact, I wouldn't probably be writing this at all! If that world existed, then everybody would be utterly nave of peace, tranquility, calmness, stillness, harmony, and we would live in a world of chaos and uproar. The human race of that world without peace would be poles apart from this world. The whole world would be divided into more and more worlds until cooperation is impossible to realize. There would be no more brotherhood, teamwork, assistance, and love. Can you still stand it any longer?

Peace is so important, that nothing in this world can possibly replace it. Not luxury, lavishness, sumptuousness, splendor, nor wealth! Not you or me, or everybody else in this world can buy it with money. But each one of us can still make a difference that can prove to everybody else that we still have peace in this world. It starts with forgiving each other, loving one's self and sharing this love to one and all. That starts the big difference.

The world without peace would be completely distant from the world that we have here. Because in this world, a handshake still exists, so does a hug, a kiss, a smile, and a giggle. Not one of us can afford these simple acts of love that promote peace among us. We must learn to value peace, that we may always live in a world of peace, happiness, and love!
