MEMORIES
The following are photos of our
precious companions who have passed
over the Rainbow Bridge.
We have also included a few poems
in memory  of those we cherished.

CH.CHITAQUA'S CHENANGO THE DEMON
Memories are Golden
They say memories are golden,
well maybe that is true.
I never wanted memories,
I only wanted you.

A million times I needed you,
a million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still,
In my heart you hold a place
No one could ever fill.

If tears could build a stairway,
and heartaches make a lane,
I'd walk the path to heaven
to bring you back again.

Our k-9 family chain is broken
and nothing seems the same
But as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.

ROTTIE PRAYER
I was standing on a Hillside
In a field of blowing wheat
and the spirit of a Rottweiler
was laying at my feet.
She looked at me with kind dark eyes
An ancient wisdom shining through
And in the essence of her being
I saw much love there too!

Her mind did lock upon my heart
As I stood there on that day
and she told me of this story
About a place so far away.
I stood there on the hillside
In a field of blowing wheat
And in a twinkling of a second
Her spirit left my feet.

Her tale did put my heart at ease
My fears did fade away
About what lay ahead
On another distant day.
"I live among God's creatures now
In the heavens of your mind
So do not grieve for me, my friend
As I am with my kind" !

My collar is a rainbow's hue
My leash, a shooting star
My boundaries are the Milky Way
Where I sparkle from afar.
There are no pens or kennels here
For I am not confined
But free to roam God's heavens
Among the Rottie kind.

I nap the day on snowy clouds
Gentle breezes rocking me,
And dream the dream of earthlings
Of how it used to be.
The trees are full of liver treats,
And tennis balls abound
Milkbones line the walkways
Just waiting to be found.

There even is a ring set up
The grass all lush and green
Where rescue Rotties always,
Become the Best of Breed !
For we're all winners in this place
We have no faults, you see.
As God passes out blue ribbons
To each one, even me!

I drink from waters laced with gold,
My world is beauty to behold.
And wise old dogs do form my pride
To amble at my very side.
At night I sleep in Angels arms
Their wings protecting me
And moonbeams dance about us
As stardust falls on thee.

So when your life on earth is spent
and you stand at Heaven's gate
Have no fear of loneliness,
For here, you know I'll wait.

WHERE TO BURY A DOG
I would like to say to the Ontario guy
that there ARE various places in which
a dog may be buried.
We are thinking now of an Irish Setter,
whose coat was flame in the sunshine, and who,
as fas as we are aware, never entertained
a mean or an unworthy thought.
This setter is buried beneath a cherry tree,
under four feet of garden loam, and at its'
proper season the cherry tree strews petals on the
green lawn of his grave.
Beneath a cherry tree, or an apple tree; or any
flowering shrub is an excellent place to bury a dog.
Beneath such trees, such shrubs, he slept in the lofted head to challenge some strange intruder.
These are good places, in life, eyes kindling, a hill
where the wind is unreturned,
and the trees are roaring, or beside a stream
he knew in puppyhood, or somewhere in the flatness
of a pasture land
where most exhilerating cattle graze.
It is all one to the dog and all one to you,
and nothing is gained and nothing lost -
if memory lives.
But there is one best place to bury a dog.
If you bury him in this spot, he will come to you,
when called - come to you over the grim
dim frontiers of death, and down the well
remembered path, and to your side again.
And though you call dozen living dogs to heel,
they shall not growl at him, not resent his coming,
for he belongs there.
People may scoff at you, who see no lightest
blade of grass bent by his footfall, who hear
no whimper, people who may never really
have had a dog.
Smile at them for you shall know something
that is hidden from them, and which is well worth knowing.
The one best place to bury a dog
IS IN THE HEART OF HIS MASTER !

EULOGY
Look not where I was
For I am not there
My spirit is free
I am everywhere !
In the air that you breathe
In the sounds that you hear.
Don't cry for me
My spirit is near!
I'll watch for you
From the other side
I'll be the one running
New friends by my side.
Smile at my memory
Remember in your heart
This isn't the end
It's a brand new start !

"MOBY"
(with friend Rennie)

MR BEST FRIEND
My best friend closed his eyes last night
As his head was in my hand
The doctors said he was in pain
And it was hard for him to stand.

The thoughts that scurried through my head
As I cradled him in my arms
Were of his younger puppy years
And Oh...his many charms.

Today there was no gentle nudge
With an intense "I love you" gaze
Only a heart that's filled with tears
Remembering our good ole days.

And then an angel appeared near me
And said "You should cry no more"
God loves our k-9 friends cuz
He just installed a "doggie door"
