Smiley (nicknamed for his trademark teeth showing while he is driving) came to us from Ft Storey Ranch in TX. His owners were no longer interested in showing and I wanted to learn to drive a modern so it was a great match. We got Smiley in March of 2007 and he was 24 years old. He was aged, but someone forgot to tell him! He loves to drive and to show off and was easy enough for Jada (who was only 6 years old) to show in halter. He does have arthritis now and spends most of his days eating grass with his Quarter Horse friend, Chexy, but I know whenever I want to drive a high stepping pony, ole Smiley is ready to go!
This gelding has an awesome show record. He is hall of fame in modern country pleasure driving (earner of 117 points with 13 stakes wins) and has 49 points in modern harness and 36 points and one grand championship in modern halter. He was the 1990 and 1992 Congress Champion in modern formal pleasure driving. He was top 10 in the National all-stars in 2007 in modern amateur country pleasure driving, modern pleasure amateur halter gelding and modern pleasure youth halter gelding. |
