Elements of a Spell

Be it strange words spoken to enchant a  "magickal apple" or an incantation spoken into the wind, spells are an integral part of magick.

The Goal: Before any spell work is done, you should sit and think about exactly what it is that you want to accomplish. Be specific and honest with yourself. It may help to write out your goal so that you may see it, hold it and then refine it. Often you may change and restate a goal several times before you get it precisely as it should be. When put into action, many witches will state their goal before they recite or enact their spell. This helps to focus your mind and states to the Universe exactly what you want to achieve.

The Spell: A properly written spell can be of invaluable aid to you in achieving your goal. There is no wrong way to write a spell. Some sources will say that "better they be spake in rhyme". This is an excellent form to take, in that rhyming lulls your conscious mind into an altered state. Spells can also simply  flow from the heart. Writing out your spells before hand affords you the opportunity to think about what it is that you want to achieve and to make clear concise statements.

The Execution: Go into your sacred space, into the woods or a lonely hill side; where ever you will not be disturbed. Assemble in front of you the elements of you spell. State clearly and with resolute the goal that you have prepared previously. This lets the Gods and Elementals know what it is that you intend to accomplish. It also lets them know that you yourself know clearly what you're up to. With intent and concentration, execute the actions of your spell. Mix the herbs, light the candles whatever your spell requires. When all is done raise energy in an appropriate preferred manner. When the energy is at it's peak, release it toward the heavens and toward the fulfillment of your goal.

Smile and know that your magick is at work...
