Prayer | ![]() |
To my mind, Prayer is the
most important thing in any religion. It allows you to talk to your Deity and to
form a personal connection that it invaluable.
Go to a place where you will not be disturbed, although
anywhere is fine, and be quite and still your mind. Reach deep within your soul
and express yourself in words or feelings. Speak out loud or speak within your
mind. Your Gods are always listening and will hear you however you choose to
address Them!
Speak as you normally
would. No fancy speech, such as thee, or thou shalt, or foreign language is
required. Speak with respect and speak from the heart. Pour out your emotions or
state you fears. Tell the truth because this is the one time that it is useless
to lie! Your Gods know your heart even if you choose to not admit it to
yourself.
Feel free to unburden yourself, but do not just "check
in" and drop of a shopping list of desires! No one, Deity or not, just
wants to hear from you only when you want something. But do not be afraid to ask
for what you need. The Gods are there to share Their abundance and love with
Their children if only the children will ask.
Another thing that is very important, is to sometimes just shut up and listen! Don't always do all the talking. Take time to listen and you will receive many wonderful things! It was once said that when we talk to God it is called prayer, but when God talks to us it is called paranoid schizophrenia. Nothing could be further from the truth!
Sometimes, I will just clear my mind and open a channel. I don't say anything, I just listen and "feel". Sometimes, I will hear the voice of a God or Goddess. Other times, I will just feel the flow of the open connection. This is what I call, "Feeling the flow".
Prayer can encompass some aspects of meditation as meditation can encompass some aspects of prayer, though they are two separate things. Meditation is about drawing in energy from outside sources. Prayer is about talking to the Gods. Both are essential to a healthy mind and body!
Experiment and find what works best for you. The Gods will give us great council if only we will let Them. Blessed be!
