The Practice of Magick |
![]() |
Magick is more than casting spells. It is more than wands and cauldrons or brooms and cloaks. It is more than a fashion statement for gothic teenagers or a means of entertainment for those who are only playing a game.
Magick, in and of itself, is neither good not bad. It has no mind to choose and will always follow the path of least resistance. Care must be taken in the direction and use of Magick or you may wreak havoc within your own life!
That said, do not be frightened of magick. By definitive definition, "magick" is the ritual manipulation and use of the naturally occurring energies of the Earth and/or those drawn from other sources. usually used to cause changes within the life of the user. "Other sources" may include, but are not limited to, totem animals, Spirit Guides, Gods or Goddesses, Angels or the Ancestral dead.
Magick requires pure intent and focused will from the practitioner. Without these, you may as well go out and just yell at the Moon! Magick works, but it is not a quick and easy method of getting everything that you want. Magick is a support system that allows you to help yourself to get the things that you really need!
Tools such as wands, candles, athames and others are great to have and to use, but are not essential! An actor can still portray great scenes with out any props, but he or she may well give a stellar performance if they have a few things to work with and draw from!
Remember, the magick is in the Witch, not in the wand.
Lastly, and maybe most importantly, magick is not just about power, spells or changes. The best and most cherished magick is having the ability to smell the approach of rain on the wind, being able to feel impending snow in the cold air or even truly feeling the majesty and power of creation in a sunset.
A close connection with Nature and the Gods is assuredly the best magick and is paramount to working the changes spoken of above.
Blessed Be!
